A bridge is a permanent replacement for one or more missing teeth. It is aesthetic and functional, restoring the natural bite.

A bridge can either be a span joining two rigid structures across a space or a cantilever extending from one side only.

In the mouth, bridges are made by preparing the teeth for crowns on either side of the space. The construction is one fixed unit made up of crowns for the missing teeth joined to crowns on the prepared teeth.
